Dave and I arrived in Denver this afternoon. What a great change from the heat of St. Louis! We were greeted by a few late afternoon rain showers. I was hoping to get a great shot of the sunset over the mountains, but we missed it in the process of picking up supplies!
Tomorrow morning we plan to visit Mt. Goliath, a mountain peak about 50 miles west of Denver. Along with our first alpine plants, we are looking forward to seeing bristlecone pines. Later in the afternoon, we will have dinner with Mike Bone from Denver Botanic Garden, who will travel with us for the next two weeks. Tomorrow night we will also welcome our two Russian guests, Dr. Vladimir Shatko and Dr. Inna Filatova.
